Table of Contents
Check UAE gold prices in AED for 24K, 22K, 21K and 18K, compare recent daily records, and calculate the gold weight in a Dubai or other emirate quotation.
Gold Price in the UAE per Gram
The latest UAE gold reference, dated , is AED 487.76 per gram for 24K, AED 447.12 for 22K and AED 426.79 for 21K. The table also includes 18K and larger weights. These are international metal equivalents in AED; a jeweller’s posted rate and finished-item price can differ.
For a jewellery comparison in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or another emirate, begin with the karat and net gold-alloy weight on the seller’s offer. A price for one gram is not the price of a complete ring, necklace or bangle. Use the gold calculator for the weight you are considering, then compare the seller’s additional charges.
24K, 22K, 21K and 18K: Choose the Matching Purity
The karat number describes the proportion of gold in an alloy. In a nominal calculation, 22K contains about 91.67% gold, 21K contains 87.5%, and 18K contains 75%. A rate already quoted for 22K should be multiplied by the article’s 22K gold-alloy weight; do not reduce it for purity again. If the bill gives an exact fineness, use that specification for a more precise comparison.
For bullion, read the bar or coin’s declared fineness and weight. A 999.9 marking describes composition; it does not tell you the dealer’s premium, delivery cost or repurchase price. The gold purity guide explains how karat and fineness relate.
Today, Yesterday and the UAE Gold Chart
Use the daily table to compare dates and the 7-day or 30-day window to see the recent direction of the AED series. Keep the same purity and weight throughout a comparison. A jeweller may revise its board several times in a day, so retain the time on a shop quotation when comparing it with an earlier offer.
The chart’s dated records provide historical context for the selected series. They are not a record of every shop’s intraday prices. For a useful purchase comparison, place the current written offer beside the latest corresponding metal value, then identify what the remainder of the bill pays for. The chart-reading guide explains period changes and daily observations.
From an AED Rate to the Complete Jewellery Bill
Ask the jeweller to make four components understandable: gold value, workmanship, stones or other materials, and tax. Making charges can be expressed as an amount per gram, a fixed amount or a percentage. Convert the offer into dirhams for the actual item before comparing discounts.

Illustrative discount comparison: two offers for the same 10-gram item both include AED 3,000 for metal. Shop A adds AED 400 for making. Shop B reduces an original AED 700 making charge by 50%, leaving AED 350. Before applicable tax and other charges, the totals are AED 3,400 and AED 3,350. The second offer is AED 50 lower; the advertised discount does not halve the full jewellery bill.
Gold Shopping in Dubai and Other Emirates
When comparing Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah or Ajman, collect quotations for the same article specifications at similar times. A lower making charge may explain a better final total even when two sellers use the same gold rate. For a bar, compare the brand, fine-gold content, delivery or collection terms and buyback conditions.
The city table provides a starting point. Where a local offer is identified, read its date and terms. A country comparison amount helps assess an offer across the UAE; it does not establish a uniform final price for every shop. Keep the quotation and invoice so that a later adjustment or exchange can be reconciled with the original purchase.
VAT and Buying Gold as a Visitor
The UAE’s standard VAT rate is 5%. Ordinary taxable retail jewellery purchases generally fall under that rate, while qualifying investment precious metals receive zero-rating. The investment-metal definition requires at least 99% purity and a form tradable in global bullion markets. Ask the seller to confirm the actual product treatment; a generic 24K description does not resolve every tax question.
For a tourist refund, confirm that both the retailer and purchase qualify before paying. Keep the required travel document and transaction record, and complete export validation according to the Federal Tax Authority’s current procedure. Refund fees and conditions affect what you receive. Compare the amount initially paid and any eligible later refund as separate figures.
If you are taking the purchase to another country, check that destination’s declaration and import rules as well. The India gold page and Pakistan gold page use their own country price bases; a currency conversion alone does not establish the final cost of a cross-border purchase.
Checking Purity and Comparing a Buyback Offer
Match any purity report to the actual article. Dubai Municipality has described its precious-metal testing work and a smart testing initiative for the Gold Souk. Confirm the available service and what the test measures before relying on a result. A composition test helps identify the material; it does not set the item’s commercial price.
For a resale, ask the buyer to record the accepted gold-alloy weight, assessed fineness, buying rate and deductions. Check whether stones, design or branding receive any separate value. A shop’s selling rate and its buyback offer serve different transactions. The jewellery-price comparison guide helps organise both sides of the calculation.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Gold Rate in the UAE Today?
The latest dated UAE reference is AED 487.76 per gram for 24K and AED 447.12 for 22K, with a quotation date of . These AED amounts compare the underlying metal value; ask the jeweller for the price of the particular item.
What are the 21K and 18K Gold Prices per Gram?
The 21K reference is AED 426.79 per gram and the 18K reference is AED 365.82, dated . Match the karat on the article and its net gold-alloy weight before using either figure.
How Much is 10 Grams of 22K Gold in Dubai?
The UAE metal reference for 10 grams of 22K gold is AED 4,471.15, dated . A Dubai shop may use its own posted rate and add the item’s workmanship, stones and applicable tax. Compare the full invoice for the same 10-gram specification.
Why can a Dubai Shop’s Rate Differ from this Page?
A shop’s board can be a retail jewellery reference, while the AED figure here is an international metal equivalent. Publication time and product terms also matter. Match the purity, gram weight and timestamp, then obtain the actual selling price for the item you intend to buy.
Are Gold Rates Always Different in Dubai and Abu Dhabi?
A city name alone does not determine a different metal price. Sellers may use similar reference rates while charging different amounts for workmanship, products or service. Compare dated offers for matching specifications in AED; a shared national figure is a comparison reference for both locations.
Does a Making-Charge Discount Apply to the Whole Bill?
Check the amount named in the offer. A reduction in workmanship can leave the metal and stone prices unchanged. Ask for the original charge, discount and final AED total so that you can compare it with another jeweller’s offer.
Does VAT Apply to Gold Jewellery in the UAE?
Ordinary taxable retail jewellery purchases are generally subject to the UAE’s 5% VAT rate. Qualifying investment precious metals have different treatment. Ask the seller to identify the tax basis and show the complete invoice; a metal-only per-gram comparison is not a tax-inclusive jewellery offer.
Is Every 24K Bar Automatically Free of VAT?
The investment-metal rules require at least 99% purity and a form tradable in global bullion markets. The product must meet the applicable conditions; the words 24K alone do not establish the treatment of every article or related service. Confirm the classification on the invoice.
Can a Tourist Claim a VAT Refund on Gold Jewellery?
Eligible visitors may claim for eligible goods bought through retailers participating in the tourist refund scheme. Ask the retailer to create the required tax-free transaction and follow the FTA’s validation process before departure. Fees and conditions affect the amount refunded, so keep it separate from the price paid at checkout.
Why does a Small Gold Bar Cost More per Gram?
A finished bar can include minting, packaging and distribution costs on top of its fine-gold value. Compare the complete price per gram of fine gold for the exact brand and size, including delivery. A one-gram product need not have the same percentage premium as a larger bar.
What should I Check before Selling Old Gold in the UAE?
Ask for the measured gold-alloy weight, tested purity, buying rate and proposed deductions. Agree how stones and non-gold parts will be treated. Compare the final payment for the same lot and confirm whether the offer is cash, transfer or credit towards a new purchase.
Does a Purity Test Establish a Fair Selling Price?
A test helps establish metal composition. You still need an offer that states the accepted weight and payment terms. If the item is branded, collectible or set with valuable stones, consider those features separately before accepting a metal-recovery valuation.
Is Gold Guaranteed to be Cheaper in a Particular Month?
There is no guaranteed low-price month. Use the dated 7-day and 30-day records to compare the period you are considering, and obtain a current offer when you are ready. A historical seasonal pattern would still not determine the price of a future purchase.
How can I Compare UAE Prices with India or Pakistan?
Start with the same purity and gram weight, then convert the complete offers to one currency using the exchange terms you can actually obtain. Include applicable charges and destination import requirements. For a tola quotation, confirm its gram weight before comparing it with an AED-per-gram amount.
What do the 7-Day and 30-Day Charts Show?
They compare the dated observations in the selected AED archive. Keep the same purity and weight when changing the window. The highest daily record in a window describes that archive; it is not proof of the highest price offered by every shop or every trade during the day.
